Today marks one year since conflict broke out in Sudan on April 15th, 2023. Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs-Canada, announces sanctions against six individuals and entities contributing to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
While we acknowledge this effort as necessary and a great first step to hold those directly or indirectly involved in undermining peace in Sudan accountable, the implementation of further tangible solutions is required to bring an end to the war and address the catastrophe.
We thank the Government of Canada and Honourable Minister Joly for their continued efforts and commitment to support Sudan and its people.
