Take a few moments to help make a difference

STEP 1: Email your Member of Parliament (MP) using our form (see right). Please feel free to add a custom message at the beginning.

STEP 2: Call your MP’s office and ask to discuss over the phone or meet in person.

Find your MP’s phone number here using your postal code. Try and learn more about who your MP is.

STEP 3: Prepare for the meeting with your MP by following these tips:

Have a specific “ask” which in this case includes asking the Government of Canada to:

  1. Develop and implement special immigration measures and resettlement programs for Sudanese nationals similar to the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program (more information on this can be found in the email on the right).
  2. Continue evacuation efforts for Canadians and permanent residents who are stranded.
  3. Support humanitarian aid to Sudan and nearby countries.
  4. Assist the international community with any efforts to broker a sustainable ceasefire and transition to peace.

If you live in a community with a sizable Sudanese population, present this as an issue which affects the MP’s voter base.

Practice what you will say before you meet your MP.

Follow-up with your MP and be persistent. Send them a thank you email immediately after your meeting and again follow up with them in 1-2 weeks about those 4 specific “asks.”
